JP Michel is the Founder and Managing Partner at Blue Ocean Harvest and the co-founder of Grupo BOH. Since the inception of Blue Ocean Harvest in 2007, Mr. Michel has been hands-on in leading the firm’s capital markets platform across South and Central America and the Caribbean. In this capacity, Mr. Michel has advised a number of finance ministers, central bank governors, and presidents across Latin America, helping implement market based policies that attracted foreign direct investments in their respective countries.
Mr. Michel is also currently a partner at HedgeServ, a top global fund administrator with over US300 billion in AuA, leading the firm’s expansion efforts within South America.
Prior to Blue Ocean Harvest, Mr. Michel funded, built, and successfully sold Cognit Enterprises, Inc., a financial software company, which provided value at risk analytics to asset managers and investors across the United States and Europe. Prior to Cognit Enterprises, Mr. Michel worked at JP Morgan, serving as a Vice President responsible for emerging markets-focused investment banking. Previously, Mr. Michel worked at IFS, Ltd, a pioneer in fund administration. As a Director, Mr. Michel built the firm’s Dublin, Ireland operations and contributed to IFS’s successful acquisition by State Street Bank in 2002.
Mr. Michel received an Executive MBA from Columbia University Business School and a B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in Economics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Mr. Michel continues over a decade of philanthropic and pro bono socio-economic development efforts across the LAC regions, with an emphasis on education, research, and mentorship.
Lester Robert is the Chief Financial Officer for both Blue Ocean Harvest and Grupo BOH. Mr. Robert joined Blue Ocean Harvest at its inception in 2007, focused on financial due diligence, transaction structuring, financial analysis, and financial reporting.
Mr. Robert brings extensive expertise from a number of professional roles with Fortune 500 companies, including Johnson & Johnson and Thomson Reuters. Mr. Robert was previously the Finance Manager for The Walt Disney Company, responsible for financial planning and decision support for their North American Publishing Business. Prior to The Walt Disney Company, Mr. Robert was a public finance banker, structuring more than USD $2 billion in bond financing transactions, as well as securing project-funding opportunities, for public power entities across the United States.
Mr. Robert holds a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University and an M.B.A in Finance and Corporate Strategy from The Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
Robert Hans has over 30 years of experience consulting on key international development issues including the facilitation of public-private partnerships (PPP), private sector development, public sector restructuring, financial sector reform, transport and infrastructure consulting, trade and investment facilitation, institutional reform and regulatory framework development and pension/ social security reform. He has assisted multilateral and bilateral agencies, corporate clients and governments in over 100 countries including multiple assignments and senior level advisory work throughout the Americas, Africa, Asia/Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East. Mr. Hans has served as a Resident Advisor in Lesotho, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Poland, Hungary, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Madagascar and the Solomon Islands.
Mr. Hans has a Masters of International Management (MIM) and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird), specializing in International Finance. He is fluent in English, French, and Spanish and conversant in Portuguese.
Jean-Marc Bourreau has over 18 years of professional experience in project management and coordination of international development projects around the world and is currently the Chief Operating Officer of IOS Partners, Inc., managing and providing and quality assurance/quality control for a wide variety of small- and large-scale development projects related to air transport sector strategic reform, infrastructure development, agriculture, economic and financial institution development and social sector reform, among others.
While working with Louis Berger’s Global Aviation Services division, Mr. Bourreau provided consulting services in a variety of airport planning and design, airport operational studies, traffic demand, revenue and OPEX projections, financial analysis and economic modeling, route development, privatization studies, master planning, and employment planning. Previously, Mr. Bourreau was the Director of Operations and Security with Alterra Partners Costa Rica (APCR), a subsidiary of Bechtel and Singapore Changi Airport Enterprises, in charge of financing, building, and operating the Juan Santamaría International Airport in Costa Rica.
Mr. Bourreau holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Delaware and a Master’s degree in Finance from the Université Lyon in France. He is fluent in English, French, and Spanish and conversant in German and Portuguese.
